FAMILY PLANNING CLINICS

Emergency post-coital contraception is available from
Drs Ruaux, Rashid and Slater. If you require this service please ensure you make an appointment within 72 hours. Emergency contraception is not available from Dr Sharp. Dr Stanley, Dr Sharp and Dr Slater do not do referrals for termination of pregnancy.

YOUNG PERSONS CLINIC

Appointments are available for young people aged 18 and under to offer free confidential advice concerning relationships, how to stop smoking, safer sex advice and contraceptive advice from our nursing team. You are welcome to bring along a friend, partner or parents.

ANTICOAGULANT CLINIC

Tuesday - Thursday 8.30am - 12.30 pm with nurse Lynn, and (Supported by Amanda and Debbie).

This clinic is for patients once they have been stabilized by the hospital and they would like to attend the clinic at the surgery.

CHILDREN'S CLINICS

We have baby clinics run by nurses and doctors every Wednesday between 10:00am - 12:00pm

INFLUENZA VACCINE CLINICS

These are normally held on Saturday mornings starting late September. We will display notices as soon as appointments are available. You can also make an appointment for the practice nurse to administer the vaccine in normal surgery hours if you cannot get to the Saturday clinics.

It is particularly important that the following high-risk groups have the flu vaccination: asthma, past history of stroke, immunosuppression including those patients on high dose steroids, diabetics, those with heart and chest disease, kidney disease and the over 65’s.

Counselling Services

We have an in house counsellor Geoff who is available to see patients on the NHS. For more information please speak to Lynda Willcocks at the surgery.

Minor Operations

Minor operations are performed at the surgery by Dr Stanley, Dr Sadia Rashid and Dr Sulaimon. These are by appointment only after consultation with a doctor.

The practice offers Pre-employment full medicals with report.

Travel Vaccinations

If you require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel you need to make an appointment with the practice nurse to discuss your travel arrangements. This will include which countries and areas within countries that you are visiting to determine what vaccinations are required.

It is important to make this initial appointment as early as possible - at least 6 weeks before you travel - as a second appointment will be required with the practice nurse to actually receive the vaccinations. These vaccines have to be ordered as they are not a stock vaccine. Your second appointment needs to be at least 2 weeks before you travel to allow the vaccines to work.

Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge. This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS.

Non-NHS Services

Please note that if the doctors or nurses are asked to perform services, which do not form part of their NHS work, a fee will be incurred.

These services include the completion of medical reports for insurance claims, carrying out medicals i.e. pre-employment medicals, driving medicals, medical certificates for periods of sickness less than 7 calendar days and some travel vaccinations.

A list of services offered and cost is displayed in reception. Payment by cash or card will be expected on receipt of the service and a deposit will be required at the time of booking an appointment for some services.

In conjunction with the Health Promotion Unit, Healthwalks take place Wednesday mornings at 9.30am for a 9.45am start from the surgery. The local walks are led by volunteer leaders and last for about one hour. There is no need to book. Just turn up on the day for a friendly welcome.

Patients who have not
been seen for 3 years

Patients aged 16 and over but under 75 and who have not consulted with a clinician for 3 years are welcome to make an appointment with the nurse for a health check.
