Practice Access For Pre-Booked Appointments Only
The practice can only be accessed by patients with pre-booked appointments. You can still contact the practice by telephone, online or via e-consult. Please do not visit the practice without a pre-booked appointment as you will not be granted access. This step has been taken in order to reduce footfall at the practice and maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.
Courts Pharmacy Closing Daily Between 12 & 2pm
Courts pharmacy have informed us that from 20th March they will be closing between these hours every day in order to deal with their increased workload. Please avoid visiting the pharmacy.

The online booking of appointments is now available again to patients with an online account.
Unfortunately we had to temporarily suspend this service due to a large number of inappropriate bookings with our nursing team, but hope the changes made will help to rectify the issues.

Change to Schedule 2 and 3 Controlled Drugs
On 1st April Schedule 2 and 3 Controlled Drugs will now automatically be processed electronically for patients who use EPS for their existing prescriptions. This will mean that some of your medication previously issued as a paper prescription will be sent electronically to your pharmacy of choice.
Lasting Power of Attorney
The practice has taken advice from the Kent Local Medical Committee and they have confirmed that when a Power of Attorney involves complicated legal decisions about finance and/or property GP's are not qualified to carry out these type of assessments.

New SMS Service Being Launched on 11th February
The practice has been trialling on a small scale a new SMS text service that allows GP's and other members of the team to text patients individually. This has proved a great success and is now being used across the practice from 11th February.
We will initially be using the system to inform some patinets about their test results or to issue advice, but will also be using it to help communication regarding appointments and prescriptions. It is hoped that the new service will improve communication with patients and make the patients journey faster and smoother.
Patients are able to opt in or out of this service. If you have not already been contacted please ask at reception for a form.
Firearms Licence Applications
The practice does not complete requests with regard to a patient’s suitability to hold a gun licence. Kent Police are aware of this.
If a patient registered at the practice needs a firearms licence application completed they will need to complete an On-line Detailed Coded record form at reception that will enable them to printout their medical record which they can take to another provider.

There may be other providers locally who are able to offer this service and patients are advised to also make their own enquiries so they can make an informed choice of provider.
Extra appointments available at GP practices in Ashford
From 1st October 2018, evening, weekend and bank holiday appointments will be available with range of Primary Care health professionals in Ashford.
This is part of a national drive to improve access to Primary Care services and give people the opportunity to have an appointment at a time that suits them.
These extra appointments, alongside existing services, will allow patients to pre-book routine appointments with healthcare professionals between 8am and 8pm each weekday as well as appointments on Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays.
Appointments will be provided from practices in different locations within Ashford, not necessarily at the patients’ own surgery, but the health professionals treating them will, with their consent, be able to see their full medical records.
Anyone needing to make an appointment should contact their GP practice in the first instance.
Trained reception staff will know when appointments are available and with which healthcare professional. They will be able to book an appointment at either the patients’ own surgery or one of the other practices providing appointments within Ashford. Patients should advise the receptionist if they particularly want an evening or weekend appointment.
Please note, these extra appointments will be available for pre-booked care. It is important to remember that anyone who needs medical assistance when their practice is closed should continue to dial NHS 111.

Want To Save Time Ordering Repeat Prescriptions!
Ordering repeat prescriptions online could not be easier.
You can order repeat prescriptions via you PC or mobile phone 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. As well as being more convenient the automated system reduces the chances of human error and speeds up the turnaround time of prescription requests. You are also able to track the progress of your prescription from your online account.
Just come to the practice with photo ID and complete an online application form. The receptionist should be able to issue you with an online access code whilst you wait.
Urgent Prescription Requests
The practice has changed it's process for urgent prescription requests. This is due to the large number of patients requesting medication on the day and the negative affect this is having upon the service being offered to our wider patient population. Please ensure that you order your prescriptions in plenty of time to avoid the situation where you may run out of medication.
Urgent prescription requests are only for medications which a patient would need within 24 hours to prevent them from becoming severely unwell. It is the surgery policy to prescribe the following emergency medications:
1 x Reliever asthma inhaler
Epipens for anaphylaxis
Insulin for diabetics
GTN spray for acute angina attacks
NOAC's - Anticoagulation medication but not Warfarin
Anti-epileptics (including rectal Diazepam)
Pallative care medication
Anything outside of this list will be classed as a routine request and is entirely at the doctors discretion.
Some medications can be safely missed for a day or two and you may be advised that your request will be processed routinely if is is not on the list above.
We will not issue an urgent prescription for any item that can be purchased over the counter.
