Prescriptions can be requested in the following ways:
The electronic prescription service (EPS) is the preferred means of sending your prescriptions as it is secure, fast and safe. It also means you can collect prescriptions from your pharmacy when the practice is closed. To use this service please nominate a pharmacy.
The practice is computerised and with your prescription we will print a list of medicines which the doctor has agreed for you to continue. When you require a further prescription, please tick the items you need and hand the slip in at reception. Please allow three working days before collection. To avoid errors, staff are not permitted to take telephone requests.
Online Prescription Requests
Patients can order and track requests for repeat prescriptions online. If you wish to register for online services, please complete our online Register for Online Services form.
You may also post or hand in your prescription requests.
A number of local chemists will collect your printed prescription from the surgery on your behalf. Allow an extra day if the chemist is collecting prescriptions. Please ask reception for details if you would like to participate in this scheme.
Tesco at Park Farm no longer collect printed prescriptions from the practice. Any patient wanting to use them as their nominated pharmacy will need to collect printed prescriptions from the practice themselves. All local pharmacies are still able to accept electronic prescriptions.
Some pharmacies can also arrange delivery of medication to housebound patients.
Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see a doctor, nurse practitioner or practice nurse at least once a year to review these regular medications and notification should appear on your repeat slip.
Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.
Please allow 3 full working days for prescriptions to be processed and remember to take weekends and bank holidays into account.
Urgent Prescription Requests
The practice has changed its process for urgent prescription requests. This is due to a large number of patients requesting medication on the day and the negative affect this is having upon the service being offered to our wider patient population. Please ensure that you order your prescriptions in plenty of time to avoid the situation where you may run out of medication.
Urgent prescription requests are ONLY for a medication which a patient would need within 24hrs to prevent them from becoming severely unwell. It is surgery policy to prescribe the following emergency medications:
- 1 x Reliever asthma inhaler
- Epi-pens for anaphylaxis
- Insulin for diabetics
- GTN spray for acute angina attacks.
- NOAC’s – Anticoagulation medication but NOT Warfarin.
- Anti-epileptics (including rectal diazepam)
- Palliative care medication
- Baby milk
- Apixiaban (blood thinner)
Some medications can be safely missed for a day or two and you may be advised that your request will be processed routinely.
We will not issue urgent prescriptions for items that can be brought over the counter.
