Flu Vaccination for Children in Muslim Communities

’Operation Vaccination’ is a campaign started in late 2020 to increase awareness in Muslim communities about the importance of getting a flu vaccination in winter. The key messages are that a higher risk of death involving COVID-19 was observed among people identifying as Muslim, Hindu or Sikh compared with those in Christian groups during the pandemic.

As flu affects the immune system, making it easier for people to contract other infections, like COVID-19 or pneumonia, and can make other long-term illnesses worse, it is important that people from Muslim communities are protected against flu.
